NSW Continual Professional Development (CPD)

NSW CPD

The CPD year for all licence and certificate holders starts on 1 July each year and ends on 30 June the following year.

Licensed agents must complete 5 hours of training on compulsory topics relevant to the class of licence you hold each CPD year. Those 5 hours of training must include at least 4 compulsory topics relevant to your area of practice.

Certificate of registration holders as an assistant real estate agent must complete at least 3 units each CPD year from a valid Certificate IV qualification that is required for the issue of a Class 2 Agent licence in Real Estate (with or without restrictions).

  • Class 1 – Licence = 5 hours Interactive session (Face to Face or Zoom is offered)
  • Class 2 – Licence = 5 hours Interactive session (Face to Face or Zoom is offered)
  • Assistant Agent = must complete at least 3 units of competency from CPP41419 – Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice

Failure to comply with your CPD requirements may result in the suspension or cancellation of your licence or certificate.

CPD Training - Continuing Professional Development Training NSW

Real Estate Salesperson topics

Residential Salespeople are required to complete 5 hours of training in the first 3 topics below.

2024-25 CPD requirements also include this online course which is being jointly developed between NSW Fair Trading and TAFE NSW. Further details will be provided when the course is launched

  1. Introduction to work health and safety obligations in residential sales and property management (can be combined for more than one licence type but both licence type scenarios must be covered)
  2. New Supervision Guidelines for real estate agencies (can be combined for more than one licence type but both licence type scenarios must be covered)
  3. Introduction to strata for residential salespeople and property managers (can be combined for all applicable licence types)

4. Underquoting and price misrepresentations (online course delivered by TAFE NSW)

Residential Property Managers topics

  1. Introduction to work health and safety obligations in residential sales and property management (can be combined for more than one licence type but both licence type scenarios must be covered)
  2. New Supervision Guidelines for real estate agencies (can be combined for more than one licence type but both licence type scenarios must be covered)
  3. Introduction to strata for residential salespeople and property managers (can be combined for all applicable licence types)
  4. Compliance with habitability standards and landlord information statement

Short-term Residential Property Managers topics

  1. Introduction to work health and safety obligations in short-term residential property management (can be combined for more than one licence type but both licence type scenarios must be covered)
  2. New Supervision Guidelines in short-term residential property management (can be combined for more than one licence type but both licence type scenarios must be covered)
  3. Strata law reforms 2023-24 (can be combined for all applicable licence types)
  4. Introduction to strata for short-term residential accommodation managers (can be combined for all applicable licence types)

Dual Licence Salesperson and Stock and Station

  1. Introduction to work health and safety obligations (this can be delivered for both licence types in same session but the scenario for both licence types must be covered)
  2. New Supervision Guidelines (this can be delivered for both licence types in same session but the scenario for both licence types must be covered.
  3. Introduction to strata for residential salespeople and property managers
  4. Underquoting and price misrepresentations (online course delivered by TAFE NSW)
  5. Mandatory implementation of eID in sheep and farmed goats NSW
  6. Animal welfare best practice in saleyards

Assistant Agent

Must complete at least 3 units of competency from the following Training Package – CPP41419 – Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice and apply for their Class 2 Licence before their Expiry Date.
